We estimated residential waste (including waste from apartment houses) to be 55 to 65 percent of total MSW generation. Waste from commercial and institutional locations, such as schools, hospitals, and businesses, amounted to 35 to 45 percent.

Plastics and Polystyrene:

Recycle all plastic labeled on or near the

bottom with a – symbol. Empty and rinse containers.

Bundle plastic bags inside a plastic bag and knot the top.

Beverage bottles (e.g. soda, water)

Bleach & household cleaner bottles

Flower pots

Plastic wrap, PVC pipes or tubing

Food containers (e.g. cottage cheese and
